After graduating from Texas Tech University Nursing School in 1990, I worked at a hospital in Lubbock for one year before moving back to Dallas. I then began my career as an oncology nurse at Baylor University Medical Center where I was employed for six years. I left BUMC to work closer to home after starting a family. I worked at LakePointe Medical Center in the areas of medical/surgical nursing, emergency room nursing, and eventually as a part of the management team. In 2004 I decided to return to school and further my education. I graduated with honors from Texas Women’s University in 2007 with a Masters of Science degree and received my Family Nurse Practitioner certification.
My nurse practitioner career started in family practice. After eight years of family practice medicine and treating patients in need of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, I decided to leave family practice and join Dr. Moore at 4 Better Sleep. While in family practice I referred patients to Dr. Moore for sleep complaints and neurological findings. After my patients were treated by Dr. Moore, I began to notice improvements in their hypertension, diabetes, anxiety, and many more ailments. When I joined 4 Better Sleep I underwent a sleep study myself to better understand what patients experience. Unbeknownst to me I had horrible sleep apnea! I now use a CPAP machine every night and my sleep quality is better than ever. I awaken feeling refreshed and ready for the day and I love dreaming again. Quality sleep is one of the cornerstones of health and longevity. Our society is plagued with chronic disease and lack of quality sleep effects all systems of the body. When sleep problems are corrected, health and disease can improvement greatly. My goal is to use the knowledge I have acquired over the last 28 years to help patients live a long, happy and fulfilling life.
